The Home
The Home (original title Hemmet) is a Swedish horror‑thriller drama directed by Mattias Johansson Skoglund, based on the acclaimed novel by Mats Strandberg. The movie centers on Joel, a man who returns to his small hometown to place his elderly mother, Monika, into a care facility after a stroke. Soon after her arrival, strange and terrifying occurrences begin to unfold — Monika experiences horrific visions and violent behavior that suggest something supernatural and malevolent has latched onto her. As Joel confronts his mother’s decline, he must also face his own haunting past and unresolved trauma while questioning what’s real versus what might be the evil lurking in the care home.
